JAC Motors or legally known as Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Co., Ltd. is a commercial vehicle and automobile manufacturer in based in Hefei, Anhui Province in China. This Chinese state-owned car company has already produced over 445,000 units in 2012.
JAC was established in 1964 as Hefei Jianghuai Automobile Factory initially. Later on after several years, their name was changed to Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Co., Ltd. on the first years of their operations, JAC designed and manufactured commercial trucks only. However, due to the coming of SUVs and MPVs in 2000, the company had to adjust.
They acquired their license to create passenger cars in 2007, however they had the intention to expand their lineup from as early as 2000 when they tapped into Hyundai Motors for the expansion. To familiarize themselves on this new venture, they have joined and helped Hyundai on assembling some of their units, one MPV and one SUV.

JAC announced in 2009 that they will start focusing on creating passenger cars from then on. This boosted their sales that reached over 300,000 units of vehicles in 2009 with 12,000 units sold out of China. A year after, JAC was named as one of the top 10 most productive automobile creators in China with their sales of more or less 500,000 units.
JAC was not only a chart-topper but also an award-winning car manufacturer. In 2009, the JAC Tojoy, a Pininfarina-inspired car, won several awards including the Execution and Layout (APEAL) award and the J.D. Power China Automotive Performance award.

In mid-2010, JAC planned to venture on to making electric and hybrid-electric vehicles. They launched their first electric car in the same year, the JAC J3 EV. It can run up to 130 kilometers in one charge. From the release date until 2011, over 1,500 unit of the J3 EV was sold in China. The third generation of the J3 EV was launched in 2012 and was named JAC J3 iev.
This became the second bestselling electric car in China right after the Chery QQ3 EV.
