The company started in the 20th century when Maserati brothers Alfieri, Carlo, Ernesto, Bindo, and Ettore got very interested in the automobile industry. Bindo, Alfieri, and Ernesto manufactured a 2-liter Grand Prix suited for Diatto. This inspired Diatto to suspend the production of their car company and to start on working with the first ever Maserati car.
The company’s first ever car was first driven by Alfieri, and won the Targa Florio race in 1926. The company’s logo, on the other hand, is in the shape of a trident – which came from the Fountain of Neptune located at the Piazza Maggiore.
