Isuzu Car Models List

Since 1916, Isuzu cars have been known to trail blazes in the Japanese automobile world. It was when two companies, namely Tokyo Gas and Electric Industrial Co., and Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipbuilding and Engineering Co. decided to tie up and venture to the automobile production.

Six years after, Wolseley model A-9, Japan’s first in-country developed automobile, was produced. The beginning of the name Isuzu was first coined when a Ministry of Trade and Industry quality model car was introduced. The name was after the landmark in the ISE Shrine area called ISUZU River.

The demand for commercial vehicles in Japan hit the charts following the World War II. Isuzu trucks were a huge hit back then as people needed to transport all kinds of products, materials and food. From then on, Isuzu has already caught spark in the bonfire of the automobile world.

At present, Isuzu motors are known mostly for trucks of all sizes and uses, but during the late 1990s, Isuzu cars, including sedans and compact cars, were dropped as their sales plunged. But before the diesel-engine era boomed, Isuzu took their cars back to the spotlight. Right now, Isuzu Motors have already created a wide array of automobile kinds like passenger vehicles and SUVs, commercial vehicles, race cars, concept cars, and buses.

By 2009, Isuzu has already produced over 21 million diesel engines distributed around the world. Their top-of-the-line diesels are being used by big companies like General Motors and Renault-Nissan Alliance. Through decades of practice and development, Isuzu cars are already considered as one of the most highly coveted automobile manufacturers in existence. Their latest SUV, the Isuzu D-MAX, is now taking roads, literally, by storm.

D-MAX was rated 5-star by ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Program) and has received the maximum safety score. The whole body was modernized and it boasts the famous 3.0 liter 4JJ1-TC engine (for 4×2 LT models). For fuel economy, the Isuzu D-MAX was able to reach 8.1 kilometers with consuming just one liter.

Indeed, there are still lots of possibilities left for Isuzu cars. A company that started as a venture by two diversely different companies is now one of the world’s best known automobile manufacturers.
